Does anyone know please, whether any licenses for Inn Keepers of pubs in the Rochdale area for the 1800s exist please and where they might be held?
Many thanks

Have you tried contacting the Local Study Centre at Touchstone's? The staff are really helpful.
The phone number is 01706 924915 or email localstudies@link4life.org

My grateful thanks Margaret, for this information - very kind of you.

You're welcome.
What pub or surname/s are you looking for?

Margaret -- at the time I raised this query I was asking on someone else's behalf, who lived in America.
I did give him some suggestions of my own at the time -- although I didn't get any responses from on here then. One of my suggestions was that he joined Rootschat -- and he has done that (isn't it good when someone takes some notice of you!!)
I am pleased to say that he did join and has received help from Rootschatters who knew more about the area than I did. Many thanks again for trying to assist with this.
Kind Regards

Hi Margaret,
By total coincidence the link below has appeared on Lancsgen today provided by our wonderful administrator --- you may find them of interest, or of use in the future.

Thanks for the links I appreciate it.
Another coincidence. Today I counted all the Neil Richardson books I have and it's 37. I read them on a regular basis especially if I'm helping people with their genealogy it's surprising what little gems they are at times.

Crikey -- I'd never heard of him before.
So I will know who to approach in future --- oh expert!

Thanks to Pennines for the exhaustive link; bravo!
