Title: Home for Girls, Chapel House, 28 Chapel Park Rd, St Leonards on Sea
Post by: lisalisa on Wednesday 20 September 17 17:14 BST (UK)
Hello,

Does anyone have any info (or link to info) on this children's home, please?

I've come across someone there in the 1911 census, but don't know anything of the circumstances that caused the person to be there, so any info regarding the home is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Lisa

Listed on Peter Higginbotham's site http://www.childrenshomes.org.uk/list/Sussex.shtml. Check out the home page and others for info.  You may be able to get Peter Higginbotham's book (link on the page) at a library.

Thanks MaxD,
yes I'd found that page, unfortunately Chapel House doesn't have a link (to a workhouse page) or the abbreviation giving a little more information.
Also for the person I was looking at, it's an out of county placement (ie not the birth county or county of parents).

Then the poor law records of the county that put her there perhaps?
