Does anyone know anything about The Mudhull its supposed to be an asylum according to Census Thanks
-
Are you able to give a census reference for it
-
Cant see a number but the lady I was looking for is Loisa Wilkins born 1838 Pembrokeshire with a child Christopher Wilkins 1863 its on 1871 census She is said to be Wife of the Keeper of Lunatic Asylum
-
Looking at later census years I think the husband is Evan Wilkins b 1841 Llantwitt Major and in 1871 was an attendant at Glamorgan County Lunatic Asylum He wasn't living with the family in 1871 https://hchroniclesblog.wordpress.com/2013/09/09/bridgend-asylums-south-wales/

For information the reference number was RG10 /Piece 5417 folio 21 page 36 ;)
He wasn't living with the family in 1871
Maybe he was on a night shift and just not there on the night of census ;D

Looking at some of the originals,I don't think the property is called Mudhill as transcribed, but possibly New Mill,or later,The Mill Lay.There is a Mill Lay Lane in Llantwit Major.
