Hi Julie,

Have you looked on FreeBMD here for here? http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

You may also find her marriage on there if you know enough from the census returns.

Do you know where in Shropshire she was born?  - as unless she has an unusual name you may be struggling to find either!

When/if you find her on FreeBMD you can then use the details to order your certificate from here
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp
or the local office in Shropshire.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Keith

hi thanks for the advice .i love your site its brill with the pictures and you have obviously spent a lot of time on it.i have tried the free bdm.but no luck i have also got her marraige cert.(she was married in durham)but i can not find her birth anywhere and i really need to pin it down.to double check she is in the right family as the name kept changeing(cadwallender/cadwallader/cadwallander)and i have recently been informed that some changed there name to wallett.a fellow rootschatter found her for me in a census.and i have no reason to believe she is not the right one as the age and everything else checkes out.i am going to put it in case anyone has any info anyway.thank you.

ann elizabeth cadwallender. abt 1857 Sampshire Coul Ps Bank
married a john leighton on the 25th dc 1875 in st stephens church in the parish of willington.
her fathers name is thomas cadwallender.(its her mothers i really need to confirm it.)
its only her birth cert i need.thanks julie.

You need to search on of the paying sites that have full coverage of BMDs.   www.18370nline.com is one but there are others.    You know her approximate age so take a few years either side and look for a birth in the right area.   Alternatively you could write to the local registrar for that town and ask them to look for it.  They are usually very helpful.   Actually I do not have a clue where her birth place is!   Sampshire?   Can you quote the full census reference?
