Title: William Henry Sinton b c 1876/1877 UK
Post by: queenswood 1 on Friday 29 September 17 11:52 BST (UK)
looking for any information on William Sinton who left the UK in 1913 and sailed to Canada- possibly Ontario. I also belive that he served in the Candian Army in WW1.
He married in the UK in 1920 and returned to canada and ran a fruit farm in the area of Essex.
Any information at all would be great! looking particularly for any details of his sailing in 1913 and 1920.

Many thanks

Caroline

You're very welcome.  ;)

Didn't come across WW1 attestation papers for William Sinton but you could try variations of names and surnames - here is the link

Title: Re: William Henry Sinton b c 1876/1877 UK- travel from 1919-1923
Post by: queenswood 1 on Saturday 30 September 17 11:30 BST (UK)
I understand that William possibly returned to the UK in 1919 and I am keen to find out details of all his trips between 1919 and 1923 please.
I have full info re his initial entry from UK to Canada in 1913.
I also have his trip back to Canada from UK on 24th March 1920.

I understand that he possibly left canada for the UK at some point in 1919- and that he married in the UK in Feb 1920 before sailing back in March 1920.

Am also keen to know if he travelled between canada and UK between march 1920 and the end of 1923.

Many thanks indeed for any assistance or information.

Caroline

He could have travelled back to the UK via the USA - UK Return passenger list - W H Sinton born 1876 - aged 43 years - New York to Liverpool on the Megantic - 18 December 1919 - occupation farmer - intended future residence British Province. No other information to positively identify him as your William.

Haha completely understandable!!!!!

Short of actually ordering the birth cert for his daughter Eunice Sinton, I have narrowed her birth down to being between 11th Feb 1921 and 13th May 1921- in UK.

Is there any way i can find the exact DOB? I have checked BMD but they only go as far as 1916.

Many thanks

It is such a priviledge to be looking into this family as both william's father and uncle were both Chelsea pensioners too :)

Thank you all so much.

I had already found the obit for Eunice- and this evening discovered her speaking on a you Tube video clip in respect of a big gas explosion in Essex Ontario in 1907 and folks still talking about it when she started school there in 1926- what an amazing thing to see her and hear her speak! ECHRS Essex Explosion.

Many many thanks

You're very welcome.  I think RootsChatters have done very well - just discovered the other threads on the Sinton family - these should have been linked to save us looking at the same information and some of which was already found and then duplicated on other threads.
