Looking at PapersPast I think that both files are for the same woman

"
"Woodville Examiner, Volume XXVII, Issue 4584, 4 January 1915
A woman named Annie Thornhill was found dead at Dannevirke on the evening of New Year’s Day. At the inquest. Dr Reid Mackay said death was primarily due to alcoholic excess, dud was caused by suffocation during a condition of faint or fit."
There a quite a few articles on her death

Hi Thanks for all your help.
Re Annie Thornhill. I believe her to be Annie Maria Lindholt b 1867 Oster Logum, Aabenraa-Sonderborg, Denmark. She married William Alfred Thornhill 10 Aug 1883 Registrar Office Invercargill, New Zealand. William remarries in 1917 in Invercargill. I ordered her death cert years ago but said i only wanted it if her Parent's names were correct and / or her Husband was William. They did not send the cert as this info was not on it. I can not find another Annie Thornhill death at the right age.
As i am writing this i wonder if the 1917 ITM would have William as widowed ?
How do i prove this is Annie Maria ? I have now have her using James as a surname.

Looking at the various records it appears that the informant may not have been a close relation, the cemetery record indicates this as even her marital status is unknown so quite likely that information is not on her death printout

Hi Carol
This Annie THORNHILL / Anna Maria LINDHOLT (however spelt), is the subject of another thread in this forum (I recall working on finding information for someone else sometime ago).
I will search for the relevant thread, and post links for it here.

Hi Carol
Mmm ... the following thread (and I haven't read through it to refresh my memory) was in the main about Cecilia Margaret LINDHOLD (LINDHOLT) who'd married Frederick SWAIN in 1888, and, Ruby, a child of Cecilia. Anna Maria LINDHOLT is mentioned. There is also a link within this thread to another, which has LINDHOLT information (and which you have probably particiated in ).
"Tigerprawn" was the person wanting information but I distinctly remember in either said thread, or another, someone giving additional information about Annie THORNHILL's death (1915), her battle with alcohol, etc. etc.

I don't have time at present to go looking for the exact thread ... but you could try searching here by clicking on the "Search" button at top of page (on the brown bar).

Carol ... just an afterthought ...
I remember reading something in the Cecilia Margaret SWAIN thread while the search was going on, that Cecilia (after leaving husband SWAIN) had gone to reside with her mother, in the North Island ??? It may have had to do with the divorce ... or the petition for divorce. ???
~ Lu
-
.... here's the petition for divorce notice ... which mentions that it had been published in newspapers in Wellington, Napier and Dannevirke.

Thanks for all the input from you all. It is much appreciated.
I had not see the petition for divorce for Margaret, so that's new.
I have a lot that implies she is my Annie but NO Facts.
Will go back through my files today and see if there is anything else.

Hi Carol
Maybe a request for a look-up of the Coroner's report into the 1915 death of Annie THORNHILL, might prove fruitful ?
https://archway.archives.govt.nz/ViewFullItem.do?code=23720909
Whilst the death and coroner's verdict was published widely in NZ newspapers, the numerous reports basically all contained the same five lines of text. ::)
Annie died on New Year's day 1915 ... and the inquest was held on 2 January ... (holiday time)... this may have been a reason there was only very brief reporting of the event ? The Coroner's report likely holds additional info ?

I left the request for Coroner's report in my first post. Hoping the report may tell me who found her or who she was drinking with. Her probate tells me nothing except she was also known under the surname of James. The information i have received comes from family members but......
Annie Maria would have been my late husband's birth great grandmother. He was adopted out by his mother in the 1950's.The other members are also trying this family through their adopted loved ones.
So no family stories to pass down.

Thanks to spades for the Coroner's Report.
It is hard to read so have just skimmed through it.
Annie Thornhill was living with Fred James. She had been there for 3 or 4 years. Annie was a married woman who used to live in Invercargill. Annie's Mother lived in Wellington. Fred believed Annie had 2 children. ( At the time of death Annie had 3 Children living)
This is enough for me to confirm her as my Annie Maria Thornhill wife of William Alfred Thornhill. Her age also fits.
I will read through it all again tomorrow.
Annie Thornhill who married David McDonald died in 1982
Once again Thank you to all who have helped and to Spades for providing the Report that links her to my Annie.
Thank you
Carol

Hi Carol,
Here are my other findings for the Lindholt family:
1835 Census - Family: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid3477259
1845 Census - Peter and Family: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid6122403
Here is the birth record for Hans Pedersen Lindholdt, Peter's brother. He is also on the 1845 Census - nr 2
https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17217250#202441,38371143
There is the same Hans Lindholdt on the ship Reichstag from Hamburg to Queensland in 1873. He is with his wife Karen and son Peter. They are recorded as coming from Agerskov Parish in Haderslev County, very near to Skrydstrup Parish. The record is on Ancestry as are many more records for them including the very same Hans' death record in 1920 with birthdate corresponding to the birth record I gave for Hans.
Here are the parish records for Haderslev if you are interested: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/amt8
