Title: edward tector lancashire 1891/1937
Post by: advent on Wednesday 04 October 17 19:42 BST (UK)
I have found edward tector with his wife Ellen in the 1891/1901/1911 England & Wales census. In census of 1891 he is age 34 (B 1857) and born Ireland. In 1911 England & Wales census he states his place of birth as Piltown Kilkenny Ireland. On finding birth of one of his children I discovered that his wife was Ellen Power. I cant find a marriage record in Ireland for Edward Tector and Ellen Power. Calculating by date of children birth I believe that they may have married 1878/80. I would be grateful if some kind Roots Chat member could possibly find a marriage record for Edward & Ellen Power. I believe that they may also have had a son also named Edward tector (B 1878/80) I find him in Piltown Kilkenny in 1901 & 1911 census and also twice married in Ireland 1907 & 1918. again, there is not any record of this Edward being born Ireland either. I believe that he may have been born England but for some reason returned to the birth place of his father to reside. Would also love to find birth record for Edward ?

The 1911 census gives number of years married but worth bearing in mind not all couples actually tied the knot.

What birthplace is given for the oldest child - England or Ireland?

On the GRO, I find 7 TECTOR births, all mms POWER, all registered in West Derby, Lancashire
Mary Ellen, 1883,
Hannah, 1884,
Alice,1886,
Kathleen,1888,
James 1889,
Winifred 1895,
Edward Anthony, 1900

Noting the youngest is named Edward.

On the 1911 England Census:
You can tell us - we can't tell you, as RC deems is a Lookup and it's not allowed:
How many children does it say is born of the marriage?
How many years does it say married?
What are the children's names?

Cheers
AMBLY

Can I just pick up on what you said there about the 1911 as I'm always cagey about what I say - are you saying it's ok to post details from it if you are the poster and have looked it up yourself?

That's useful information if so.

If you are the original poster you can post all the details from the 1911 and the 1939.

We are not allowed to ask for someone to look up these details for us and we can't post them as a reply to someone's post

is that Ellen Tector's death,23rd of December  1917 Carrick on Suir
aged 50 years,married woman,a labourers wife,present at death Thomas Luby,son of deceased
Thomas being the child of Ellen Luby no father recorded in Carrick 1898

there may be some connection as an Edward Tector  married Ellen Luby in 1907

think I have mixed the Tector's up

Just trying to get to grips with this one
Edward IN 1901 is living with the Power family,in Carrick Suir and is aged 30 a farm labourer
which would put his birth circa 1870,and is unmarried ,born Kilkenny
in 1911,he gives his age as 36,and is married to Ellen and has two stepsons
so his age has changed again
as in his second  marriage he states he is 35 in 1918,same abode Kilkenny
