Title: Taylor Blyth area nottinghamshire
Post by: betton39 on Thursday 05 October 17 18:41 BST (UK)
Seeking information on my great uncle. He was called Regenald Taylor.... I don't know that much about him.... He was born 29th September 1915 ...i believe in oldcotes... married my grandmother's sister Irene Frances Allen in workshop c.1937.... and was a farmer on the hodsock priory estate near Blyth. As a child I remember meeting a brother possibly Francis or Frank... the only other thing was I believe his mother's maiden name was Hancock... any help is greatly appreciated. As I've hit a dead end.x

It's not very clear exactly what type of info you are looking for.  If you are looking for his life after marriage - you would need to find living relatives - see below re children

Have you looked for his birth on freebmd to confirm his mothers maiden name?  Is Regenald  a typo as it's usually Reginald?

When confirmed - use freebmd to search for other Taylor births with that mmn to establish any siblings.  I can see 2 sisters born 1914 and 1917 .

Births pre- September qtr 1911 do not show mmn so you can use the GRO online site to look for Taylor births with mmn Hancock prior to 1911

Use freebmd to look for his parents marriage to get their christian names.  Possibility in Doncaster 1913 You can then look them up on the 1911 census

Use freebmd to establish if any children were born to the 1937 marriage.  Details cannot be given here as the children could still be alive

Have you checked for a death for him and have you checked whether he left a will?

" I know his mum's maiden name was Hancock but that's all"

All very easily searchable here https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
As Carole says just plug in the names and hit search.

I cannot see a brother Frank or Francis, so if you want to establish his parents etc then you might consider buying his birth certificate to confirm his identity.

He only died in 1999.  Did he leave a will?

Are you certain that Reginald Taylor was born 29th September 1915 ?

Irene F Allen married Reginald Taylor Jqtr 1936 Worksop 7b 132.

In 1939 they were living at 35 Kilton Road, Worksop, and their dates of birth are given as 24th March 1913 for Irene, and 24th February 1913 for Reginald. Irene's parents were living at 37 Kilton Road.

That birthdate is from this death registration.  Whether it's the correct persons death ????

Reginald Taylor    83  Birth Date 29 Sep 1915  Death reg    Mar 1999  Worksop Reg No 9A
District and Subdistrict 6911B Entry  256

If he died 15.2.1999 then he left a will

willsmum,
Are you sure of that 1939 result - I only have free access but can only find a June F Taylor with a Reginald under the birth dates you have specified?

Added:
Is 'June' in fact 'Irene'?

The East Retford Reginald Taylor could be this one:
Births June quarter 1913
 Reginald Taylor mmn  Moorhouse   E.Retford

who does have a brother Frank:
Births December quarter 1925
Frank Taylor  mmn  Moorhouse    E.Retford

I think some assumptions appear to have been made here re: mmn - nothing to support mmn was Hancock

Check freebmd and you will find a birth for the brother you mention in 1925 - mmn Moorhouse

Chempat, Yes I viewed the original image, it's Irene F Taylor, not June.

Earliest Taylor ancestor of my wife William Taylor b East Markham 27th October 1776 son of Benjamin Taylor and Jane ?? (no further detail on his parents). died in East Markham 1827. Married Rebecca Stockdale in East Markham Feb 1810. Does this ring any bells? Unfortunately Taylor is the third or fourth most frequent surname in the UK which doesn't help.

I think perhaps Betton needs to look at the replies posted as the details he gave in the opening post for Reginald Taylor are clearly incorrect.

He needs to buy a copy of the 1936 marriage cert to confirm Reginald’s age and name of his father

Redroger, there are 11 baptisms at E M for children of Benjamin and Jane Taylor, do you have them all? Some of the later baptisms say the father was a publican.
Also how about this marriage
East Markham, St John the Baptist
22 Nov 1768 Benjamin Taylor and Jane Booth.
Booth, Taylor, Stockdale, all good old E M names. Lots of gravestones....

Burials E M
27 June 1794 Benjamin Taylor notes- died 25th June Publican.
28 Oct 1811 Jane Taylor notes died 28th Oct Widow.
