Can someone please lookup the 1861 Census for Wandsworth. I have a birth certificate to say that Janet MEIKLE had a child 7 days after the census were taken at 3 St Anns Lane. I would like to know who else was in the house. I'm trying to ascertain if she was staying with relatives.
Thank you.

3 St Anne's Lane was occupied by
William Forrest, 66 Gardener
Maria, wife, 68
Frederick, grdson, 11 mths
Elizabeth, d, 26 (?)
Henry, son, 34, fireman
? Henry, grandson, 1
No sign of Janet Meikle

Thanks Gadget
She came from Scotland so I expected her to be here if she was a week away from giving birth.
By the way - what streets are around the area as I believe that St Anns Lane is no longer there today.
Thanks.

I'm not sure of the other streets as I did the search on St Anne's. I'll have a quick look through the other pages but not got a lot of time this morning. If no one else comes in to help, I'll look later today/night.
I first thought that they might have been Scots as Forrest is also a Scottish surname. How old was Janet, where was she born and do you have her on the 1851?

Added = The Forrests were born, Kent, Staffordshire and Surrey

No I don't have her age. It's not on the certificate. The baby was adopted into the family and I'm trying to work out which Janet was the mother. The Scots sure like to use the same names.

As fr as I can make out from the enumerators description the area included:
Allfarthing Lane
Insert - The Elms
St Anne's Hill
St Anne's Lane
St Anne's Grove
Wandsworth Common
Clapham Road
So is her name definitely Janet Meikle?

Had another look - the family surname is Farrant not Forrest

The name doesn't ring any bells but thanks anyway.

Was the baby a Catherine Meikle?

Yes.
