My great grandmother Eleanor Smith was born 20 August 1884 in Bradford West Yorkshire. The dob was gleened from the 1939 Register. I have obtained a copy of her marriage certificate and her death in 1945 seems to be registered. Her father's name was George Smith. Her mother's name was Elizabeth Smith nee Kitson.
However, I can't find any evidence of her birth having been registered. A search of the GRO list comes up with nothing. Please can anyone advise me of why this should be?

It is just a spelling thing. When searching, use the options in the surname and forename drop down menus - phonetic/similar sounding etc.
SMITH, ELEANOR
Mother's maiden surname: KITSONS
