Title: Stottesdon Parish Register - CORFIELD

Hi

I am looking for an Eliza Corfield born Stottesdon, Shropshire in 1832

I have a known address in 1851 census High Street Bridgnorth where she was about to give birth. Her daughter, Alice Corfield (illegitimate) was born on 11th April 1851.

Very little is know about Eliza before or after this date, however Alice was living with her 'Aunt' Ann Embry and 'Grandmother' Rebecca Corfield in 1861.

I am particularly keen to find reference to her baptism in the parish records or any subsequent marriages and her death and any further information about Alice. We think Alice later married into my husband's family in Much Wenlock.

Do you think she is the Alice Mary Corfield who is a Barmaid in 1871 Much Wenlock  :-\
Are you thinking she may be Alice Mary who married Thomas Barnett in 1874.

That's definitely the lady we are interested in. I have a birth cert for Alice Mary Corfield, but her mother Eliza was more of a mystery. Discovering that Eliza's mother was Mary fits very well. My next challenge is to find out more about Eliza and Mary. We are pretty shire their mother is Rebecca Corfield nee Jordan who lived until 1872 in and around Stottesdon incl Neenton and Aston Botterell. She was christened in 1790 in Burwarton but not sure where she died as 'Atcham' is only the registration district.

You can rule out the Marriage for a Eliza CORFIELD to Richard SQUIRES 1856
She was a Widow, nee Stokes and 1st married to John Corfield 1850.

Buried at Stottesdon 17th July 1872 age 83 - Abode 'near Wenlock'

I had a look to see if with my limited in-line resources I could find a Will for William Corfield who died 1854.

I was hoping he mentioned his Granddaughter Eliza !
But had no luck.
Tried looking for a Will for Rebeccaalso to see if Eliza was mentioned hopefully with a married name.

I also noticed Ann Embrey, nee Corfield married the Farm Bailiff William Cordfield (1861 Census) in 1865 (FreeBMD)

Eliza is visiting the Bowens in Bridgenorth in 1851 Census;
