Hi again - you're welcome
Although the records for the Silver War Badge show the name as James WILLIAM the Medal Index Card is in the name of James WILLIAMS and show that he was awarded three medals -
The British Medal, The Victory Medal and the 1914-1915 Star and also states that he was discharged.

Thanks for the additional info on James William.

Just to add that he attested 12/8/1914 & was discharged (sickness) 1/11/1918.
So served the entire war all but 17 days.
If you don't already have it (apologies if you do) he went overseas 3/8/15, theatre "b" Gallipoli (Dardanelles).
He served in firstly the 5th. Batt. & secondly the 6th. it looks like these 2 were combined into the 5/6th. which was his discharge Batt.
So 2 stints in the RIF & 3 more medals to add to his collection.
Whoever he is he was one hell of a soldier.
