Richard is the grandfather in the 1871 census record that is likely to be your man.
Click on the familysearch link given earlier.

I wouldnt fret about the difference in an 1869/1871 birth year. He may have fibbed to be of full age at 1891 marriage. Or for the age difference between him and Caroline Fox to be more "respectable". Verify his father from the 1891 martiage and see where it goes.

Sorry if I confused you.

1871 Alfred is with his Grandparents Richard/Catherine.
Alfreds Baptism has his Parents as Thomas/Sarah.
They married 1870
Thomas (Alfreds Father) was born c 1850 Whitchurch and is with his Parents 1851 Census who are Richard/Catherine.
Familysearch has their Marriage 1845 which takes you back another generation.

Thanks trish, you all are very helpful.
im back at work so will probably not do much now. I got the link to richard & his birth year 1825. Will try to go further. Looks like gran & grandad had the kids so maybe tomas & sarah went off in search of work ...
