Title: Notifications in error
Post by: seemex on Tuesday 31 October 17 15:03 GMT (UK)
Yesterday I received two notifications via e-mail. Both were from old topics and when I clicked on the link, I was taken directly to the "posting formatted page" There was no message and when I contacted the sender, they had not left any messages nor had they posted now comments to the topic.
Just a heads-up.

Thanks Gadget  :)

Hi Seemex,

If someone had replied to your topic in error, if we had split the topic into two this would explain why you could not see any new replies - I have just checked and this does not seem to have happened here.

I have just sent you a pm requesting for some more details from you.

Regards

Sarah

Ok, this came through in the normal fashion. Now when I click on reply or quote, the text screen opens. Before, all I got was the text reply screen.
I changed my e-mail, but my notices are still coming to aol I changed it to telus Maybe it takes some time to go through. All else seems to be back to normal

Hi seem,

I have just removed your last reply because it contained confidential information that maybe you should have sent by PM. Just reading the information that you have sent me. Now attached again.

Ok, seems to be working now. The other notification I had yesterday was from ianajgill about a post that I made in April, so it's a long time back. It had my whole post as a quote, but no new message

If you click on the link in the e-mail notifying you of a PM, you automatically get directed to your inbox with the quote of the PM that has been sent to you. From the snip you've sent me,  that is what you are getting.

I usually don't click on the link in the e-mail but go direct to my messages on the site.

I normally do that as well, but I  used the link because it had to do with a post that was many months back. Whatever it was seems to be ok for now. Sorry to bother you and thanks for your help. I still make mistakes in posting so I'm trying not to mess up for others.

It had my whole post as a quote, but no new message

I would not worry about this, it is often the poster who has clicked the quote button instead of the reply button.

Ok, no problem. It was just that it was from such an old topic, that I was anxious to get new info. False alarm this time.

Not in this case, Sarah. It seems that Brian has clicked on the link in the notification e-mail and got the quote already inserted in  for his reply. I've just done it with one of mine and get the same result.
