Hi. Can anyone tell me if the troops (particularly soldiers & airmen) were issued with Ration books in the same way as civilians during WW2.

Not 100% sure on this but I believe they would have had some sort of control. I have my aunts and uncles stuff in the attic, I will look it out and see if it includes ration books.

I'm sure they would have needed something for when on leave or gone hungry while at home.

Whilst in barracks I suspect they were rationed as a group by the catering corps.

For what it is worth, one page of the ration book says "if you are called up....recover any coupons you have deposited with a retailer and take this book with you"

Maybe if you went on leave you were issued with emergency coupons for the period of your leave.

Not that it mattered, most butchers and grocers had items available from. " under the counter" at a price.
