Title: Trying to find a Marriage Certificate in Dublin
Post by: bambam1302 on Tuesday 31 October 17 21:05 GMT (UK)
been trying to get a marriage certificate for my mother of her mother& father who married in Dublin  then came over to England about 65yrs + so asked a friend that moved to Ireland - Belfast
My friend went to the local registery office in Ireland & they said she had to go over the boarder into the Republic of Ireland to get the certificate! 😟 Is there any otherway to get a copy if there marriage certificate ? Could she ask at her bank for a bank cheque made out to them ? Or anything? Any help appreciated many thanks in advance

Your friend went to the local registery office in Northern Ireland.

Records for Southern Ireland wouldn't be there!!

You've posted your question on a resource topic (this board isn't for queries) but hopefully a moderator will split it and move it to the correct board.

What year did the Dublin marriage take place?

You haven't done anything wrong but I've given you all this information more than once, you just need to read back through the thread and the PMs, everything you need is there. If you gave your friend the money for the Certs than perhaps her mother would be willing to just buy them for you, they are very cheap.

Your message states - You never said your friend was from Northern Ireland.
Of course she can't get it there, they don't do Republic of Ireland stuff.
So therefor if my friend couldn't get the cert - then what would make it any easier for hur mother to get one.
And I appogise you repeated yourself but I am knew to Roots and as a message got answered another appeared so I'm still finding my bearings.

I thought you said her mother was across the border.
Did I not read somewhere?

Hi Maggisie
Much appreciated my thought entirely..
I believe if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't bother saying nothing 🤐
I personally felt a touch just a touch humiliated by a member that had ignored 2 pm's - yet follow's me to another thread to Quote "it's a 6 page thread with the link & say knock yourself out!
Why not write it in the pm as it was the same I wrote on the thread only 10 minutes before....
People need to walk in a persons shoes to know where  there head as been the past year..
But still have respect for others feelings...
But some people do not have empathy or Compassion - good job there are still some kind & "patient" people in the world X

I do believe that is directed at me.
I must say I am very very disappointed. I spent a great deal of time explaining how to get the cert, not just on threads but by PM as well.
Not to mention all the time I spent on the search in the first place.
The knock your self out comment was meant for the posters who were asking questions already answered in the other thread and not directed at you bambam, perhaps that wasn't clear, apologies if that is the case but none the less the comments made in the last two post are totally undeserved.
I'm very hurt, all I tried to do was help and have got insults in return.
I hope you solve your family riddle and I'm glad I helped but very sorry none of it was appricated and I was totally misunderstood.
