I am trying to find out where William Colquhoun Hunter born 1855-died 1858 is laid to rest which I think maybe at Eastern Necropolis Cemetery? I understand that sometimes lairs were purchased by a family member and various members of the family were all laid to rest in the lair. If this is the case I was wondering if any other family members would have been burned with William.
William died 11 September 1858- from 6 Eastfield Rutherglen, Lanarkshire
Can anyone advise how and who I would need to contact to find this information out?
Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.

The lair records are held by the Mitchell Library in Glasgow. Unfortunately although they have been digitised they are not available for public access and require an email request to the Mitchell. If you need a full search of the records there will be a fee charged although the last time I enquired no one was able to give me any figures as it depends very largely on how much work is involved in each individual search.
Another check might be sites like memento mori who have photographed the stones in many cemeteries
(Just checked http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/ have photographed the stones in the Eastern Necropolis)

Hi Sue
The Weekly Interment book (1855-1861) Eastern Nec. is here on Family Search:

I've just had a look and cannot find the name you are looking for. Perhaps not buried at the Eastern Necropolis.

Thanks CD for the information. I have found the record for Robert Hunter from the Mitchell Library, but appreciate your tip to FamilySearch, which I will use for other record inquiries.
All the best!!!
