In GRO I found the birth record for:
BARAT, JOSEPH CHARLES FRANCIS MICHAEL, 1862. MMN: DOHERTY.
As well as...
BARAT, JOSEPH ANTHONY JAMES AUGUSTINE, 1860. MMN: DOHERTY (an older brother who died young?)
However, I cannot seem to locate a Barāt-Doherty marriage record. I've tried searching with and without the French accent on the second 'a'. I'm wondering if it's not out there under some variation of Barrett or Barrit or something. I would much appreciate assistance.

You haven't given details of which county these births were registered in.
1860 - registed Tewksbury
1862 - registered December qtr 1862 Banbury
Have you found the family on the 1861/1871 census? What were the parents christian names?
Joseph Antonio James Augustine Barat died March qtr 1862 Banbury - see freebmd

I can't find Joseph or his parents (whatever their Christian names were) on the 1871 census... I've poor eyesight so sometimes I have trouble finding things. I suspect he's there but under some variant of Barrett or Barrot or so forth so I can't find him.

As 2 births and a death were registered as Barat I am dubious that it was a mis-spelling
You may need to buy a copy of one of the birth certs to get the parents christian names. Doherty is an Irish name so parents may have married outside England
Can you tell us what your interest is in the births? Are you a descendant of another Barat child?

I am wondering if the 1862 Joseph went by the name Frank. One of his Forenames was Francis.
There is a family with a Frank bc 1863 Banbury on the 1871 in Paddington.

Poor little fellow. I thought as much.
giggsycat, good find! I think that might be his family. I would never have thought to look for a Frank. This is why I need help. I'm trying to find some of the other children's birth records to check for the MMN -- no luck thus far. I did find what appears to be the father of this family's death record from 1916:
BARAT, GEORGE PAUL 84

There are several Ancestry trees for this family . This marriage is given :
George Paul Barratt/ Barat and Mary Ann Doherty 21 Feb 1852 at St Mary Catholic Chapel Nuneaton, Warwickshire ; by the Reverend Father Merwood Mr George Barratt of Hinckley , Leicestershire , grocer, to Miss Mary Ann Doherty , eldest daughter of Mr John Doherty , bookseller , formerly of Hyde Cross , Manchester . There is no source given but this would be the marriage :
George Barratt and Mary Ann Doherty 1 1852 Nuneaton 6D 293

Fantastic, thank you.
I wonder if this is Mary Ann's family from the 1841 census. Look at the name of her brother and then compare to the name of her son Ambrose. She also had a daughter Agnes. Hmm.
Manchester, Lancashire, England, Withy Grove, page 25:
John Doherty, 40-44, Ireland
Laura, wife, 40-44, Lancs
Mary, dau, 18-22, Lancs
Ambrose, 16-20, Lancs
Agnes, 14, Lancs
Agustus, 12, Lancs
By 1851 it seems the father has died, as the women are visitors and lodgers in the household of John Whyman:
Laura M. Doherty, 50, visitor, Manchester
Mary A. Doherty, 24, artist, lodger, Manchester
Agnes C., 21, artist, lodger, Manchester
