Title: Photo Dating Early 1900s ? Henry Jeffrey (1860-1952).
Post by: USCRx on Monday 20 November 17 20:49 GMT (UK)
The attached photo is of my g-grandfather, Henry Jeffrey (1860-1952). He lived in:

Buffalo, N.Y. from 1890-1909 (age 30-49)
Detroit, MI from 1909-1929 (age 49-69)
Seattle, WA from 1929-1933 (age 69-73)
Los Angeles, CA from 1933-1952 (age 73-92)

I'm wondering if anyone could hazard a guess as to when this photo was taken, based on his appearance, and the style of clothing?
Thanks![/img]

I would judge him to be in his 70s so maybe 1930s....the style of dress doesn't give any clues.

He looks to be 70's to me but early or late I don't know. People age differently.

Here's another photo of Henry, and it seems he is dressed similarly. He is with his wife, Jennie. Maybe her style of dress might give clues to the date of the photo.

Here's a touched up photo of him from 1937 (77 years old). Your guess of eye color was close! I had assumed that the bow tie and collar seemed more from the 1920s.

Don't know the date, but the second photo might be taken at some dressy 'do' which could confuse the dating a bit.

Just a thought.   :-\ :-\

The shoes look to be 1920s style.

Thanks, Carol. That observation is very helpful! So he would be in his 60s?
