Hi,
William Anderson born 1865, Victoria, Australia, at my estimate would be about 19 years old in this photo but I'm not sure. I don't know the team colour of his jumper so it's o.k. to be creative.
The sport was probably Australian rules football. The photo wasn't an original, more like a photo of a photo, so the scan is not the best. A clean up would be great, colour if anyone would like to have a go. Thanks and Kind Regards, Aussielass. :) :)

A b&w. Will play with some colors

I went for a more creative version after cleaning up a bit - so darkened it out quite a bit compared to your original. But as a sports man i thought the style might suit him. I hope it is okay, but you will get a few variations from restorers to choose from.

Thanks jloy326, a terrific clean up, it looks fantastic, better than I could hope for, given the poor quality of the photo, you have worked wonders! :)

Thanks MartynS, it looks fabulous, and I like your creativity. :)

Thanks Pat, our local football team is blue and white, even though William was living in another state of Australia and I had no idea what his team colours were, I love your choice!! It looks fantastic! :)
Thanks and Kind Regards, Aussielass :) :)

I did some googling and found a Bill Anderson played for St Kilda during the years you think, but that isn't a St Kilda jumper. Not even an old one! ;)
There could well be other Bill Andersons around . . . . like the one who player for Rugby League.
Oh well . . . . . I tried! ;D ;D ;D

Hi Wiggy, thanks for trying, I don't think William played at a professional level, ;D ;D, but if he did it was in Tassie, which is where he would have lived at the time the time the photo was taken. You're right, there are lots of Bill Anderson's floating around!! ;D ;D ;D ;) ;) ;)

Hi Carol, you just make me laugh out loud!! ;D ;D :P :P
Thanks so much for giving William's photo a spruce up, it looks great! I'd never seen this photo of my great great grandfather until a couple of weeks ago, only photos of him as a mature man.
I'm very pleased with all the results. Thanks and Kind Regards, AL (I like the abbreviation Carol) ;) Seeing it's the last day of November and tomorrow is December, I'm in a festive mood so I'd like to wish one and all a happy Christmas.

Your picture is lovely. It is so cold here, I really should be in the warmth. Here is a view of Lancaster looking towards the Lake District to wish you a very happy Christmas.

Hi Carol, it just goes from one extreme to the other here, today it is bucketing rain, so I haven't been able to go on my morning walk, despite that, it's not cold, I'm still walking around in short sleeves. ;D ;D

Pat, how beautiful; Lancaster looks gorgeous, as does the beautiful Lake District in the background, I wonder what our ancestors would make of all this, communicating with friends from other ends of the world, sharing photos and stories, it is wonderful, isn't it!! :) ;D :D ;)
I realise this is not an open forum for posting our own personal photos, but just this once, since it's nearing Christmas, I'll share our warmth from yesterday morning and the morning before that. P.S. I would've liked to share your snow yesterday!! :P :P
