Title: Webb Lane Beenham, Berkshire
Post by: JSHD2011 on Monday 04 December 17 11:03 GMT (UK)
Hello again,

We are researching a possible ancestor in the Beenham, Brimpton, Ilsley and Compton area of Berkshire.    We get lots of DNA matches with the names Webb, Arden, Moore etc and notice that there is a Webb lane in Beenham, Berkshire.   We would be most interested to know the history of Webb lane in Beenham if anybody can help.  Especially, when it was named and also why it was named Webb lane.

Very many thanks,

That's much later than I'd hoped.  We would have like abt. 1500-1600 to be honest but very many thanks.  Also, I think I got the name wrong, I think it should be Webbs Lane.

You may have to go to the Archives for very early entries in the parish registers - Genuki says that the St Mary, Beenham was in existence prior to 1561.

Berkshire Records Office in Reading have St Mary registers from 1561.  Family Search have parish registers 1573-1924 and the BT's 1607-1835 - transcripts only.
