Has anyone ever managed to get a response to an e-mail? I have been trying since September to get some burial information using the main e-mail on the website and an individual e-mail of a specific person to no avail :(
To explain further I went to a Heritage Open Day there and got talking to a gentleman who said he would get his wife to fetch the burial book for me to look at. Unfortunately I was pressed for time so had to leave before the book materialised.
I have written a few times but no response. The e-mails haven't been rejected that I know of.
Actually that reminds me I have written several times to St Nicholas Cumberworth but have never had a reply from them either. Hmmmm :-\
Any similar experiences would be interested to hear thank you :)

Back in 2010, I wrote (snail mail) to the archivist at Leeds Catholic Diocese requesting some general information. I even enclosed a sae. I'm still waiting for a reply. :(
They're not all bad, though. I got that address from a chap at the Middlesborough Diocese who I had written to thinking that would be the correct diocese for my enquiry. He wrote back very quickly.
Apologies if I'm mentioning the obvious (especially as I note you've posted way more than me) but was the Heritage Day at Holy Trinity actually one of the church's own or could it have been 'just' a venue for a Heritage Day run by the local archives or FHS? perhaps they had a stall and a burial book was included?
Just a thought.... Otherwise, I'd try the Archives or Huddersfield FHS. I've always found them extremely helpful and, if it is the actual burial plot number you were after, they'll almost certainly be able to put you on to the right bod!

It was one of the heritage open days they have up and down the Country in September each year, you know where they open places not normally open or free of charge. This Church was offering a tour of the crypt but unfortunately that was the Friday evening when I was still back home.
I did obtain a map of the churchyard several years ago but couldn't pin point where my relatives actually were.
Certainly with Cumberworth I have tried sending a letter (with sae) but no response. I don't know why e-mail addresses are given if nobody responds to them particularly if they go to the trouble of posting individuals names and photographs with a direct e-mail - you would expect that to get through. It makes me feel my enquiry is completely unimportant - but it's important to me.

Been away and just seen post.
Several years ago I transcribed the burial register and went round the graveyard to look for what ever is left of the headstones so i f I could help you just send let me know.
Being skeptical you could entitle your email donations! might work.

Hi John.
I read the post you wrote to the lady looking for an ancestor in Holy Trinity.You said that you have transcribed that burial ground.I was wondering if you came across an Edmund Wear,died 1876,I have been searching for his grave for years,maybe you've indexed some other graveyards too.
When he died Edmund was living in Beaumont Street Huddersfield,be good if you can help.

I have transcribed a couple of burial grounds & I havenoEdmund Weir.
Most the the church and chapel burial grounds were full by 1850's and they used Huddersfield Edgerton Cemetery but it would gdepend on which Beaumont
street.

Thanks for your reply,I'm not sure what your post says as it's a bit muddled in the middle.You have put Edmund Weir not Wear but that could well have been a mistake on the grave.
I need to find a complete list of burials at Edgerton,not just the ones with headstones and see if he's there.It's the logical place,he could be in a grave that's shared by other people. Again any help appreciated

Try Huddersfield & District FHS - they say that they have transcribed about 80% of the Edgerton Road burials. I had help from them when I was searching for a relative.

Just to update I wrote a letter and had a reply yesterday. The lady said couldn't find my e-mail nor could she recollect seeing it (there were several since September all apparently missing)
Suggested I try e-mailing the information again. So I have but am not too hopeful. The e-mail address is exactly the same as the one I used so if the others haven't been received....
Telephoning is no good as I need to see on a map exactly where the burials are so I can visit them.
