I am trying to obtain the birth certificate of the above person. Does anyone know how I could do this, please? I am mainly trying to find out who her parents were. Attached is the index to her birth but, as you can see, the certificate number is blotchy so can't read it.

Thank you Sandra for that information. Unfortunately, I live in the UK and am not a direct descendant of the person, she is distantly related and I believe you have to prove how you are related. Also do not possess a credit card to pay (nor does any other member of family or friends).
Just wondered whether there is any other way to view an index of the birth that shows the parents. I believe the parents are Angelina Castagno (nee Pacitti, a cousin of my Great Aunt) and unknown Castago).

There are no birth certificates on line for that time frame - have you found the family on census ???

Can't find anything.
I don't think Angelina Pacitti, who I think is Antonetta's mother, was married to Mr Castagna when she had Antonetta so can't trace a marriage.

What do you know about Angelina Pacitti ? When was she born ? Have you found her on census ?

Angelina Pacitti (born 1896 in Italy), married to Antonio Panetta in 1926 in Philadelphia, trying to pass off Antonetta Castagna as their daughter. However, in Antonetta's husband's obituary it states Antonetta's maiden name as Castagna not Panetta, that's when I traced her birth in Brooklyn.

Think you should have given this info in the original post - spent ages looking for a Pacitti - Castagna marriage - what a waste of time ::)

There is an RAOGK volunteer (initials BK on the link below - might be others as well) who will look up - - Records and information from the New York Public Library, New York City Municipal Archives and the National Archives at New York City. Might be worth an e-mail if nothing else materialises.

If this is your family Antonette was listed as a daughter.
Joseph and Mille have a different mother than Angelina, children from William on down with a marriage date of 1926 would be her children, Antonetta's birth to be determined.
Antonio Panetta and Angelina Pacitti were married 1926, if she had been married to a Castagna she would have used that name not her maiden name, unless confused by the wording on the forms.
The license number is 525793, Philadelphia it will give a great deal of information

My link to Antonio Panetta is that he was married to my Great Aunt Rosa Minchella. She died after suffering a seizure after the birth of her child in late 1924 and by early 1925 Antonio was living with Angelina Pacitti. I was told Angelina was Rosa's cousin and Antonio probably met her at Rosa's funeral. I have photos of both of them and they look like sisters! I knew Angelina had a child outside of marriage but a member of the family wouldn't believe it and was looking for a marriage.
I can't unfortunately obtain the certificate because I live in the UK and don't have a credit card to pay, nor does anyone else I know. I only have PayPal and they won't accept that.

There is a social security death notice states William Joseph Panetta born 2 October 1920 died 8 July 2000, parents Antonio and Angelina Panetta.
He was listed as 16 in 1940, but 9 in 1930, possibly he did not remember his mother and thought Angelina was his mother.

Thanks for looking up these records, also for submitting the correction. I know they passed Antoinette off as Angelina's daughter in some records. I'm just looking for the copy of the 1930 census you have mentioned as I can't seem to find the one with Tony Pacitti mentioned.

Look for the surname Parotta, Angelina age 34 family number 622 on Annin Street.
It's how it was transcribed.
This appears to be them in 1920, Mildred Street, Philadelphia.
Antonio Pannetti 31 born Italy labourer in shipyard emigrated 1914 (note spelling of name)
Rosa 28 born Italy emigrated 1915

They kept changing Amelia's name, sometimesd Carmella, sometimes Millie.

As far as I know, there used to be birth index books at the New York Public Library, but they have since been removed.
