I have the details of Richards marriage to Sophia Dixon in Shoreditch in 25 Dec 1870 in English Marriages on Ancestry but there is no further details available
I know that Sophia's father was George Dixon and mother is Rebecca
Is there a London web site that might help I have spent so much on certificates already
There are two Richards I think that be my man that's why I need his father to get back further The one everyone has traced back on Ancestry believe it to be Richard Flood with father George from Kent I have a feeling that Richard was born in St martins in the Field Workhouse with mother Amelia in 1853 a legitimate child of Richard Flood thanks

An couple of online trees give Richard's parents as Edward and Sarah (n Mayo); Richard shown as born about 1849 in St. Luke, Middlesex. One quoting "I have seen the marriage certificate".
Other trees give his parents as George and Harriet (n Champion).

Is that the Richard (born 1849) & Sophia Flood who are living in Finsbury with the Edwards family in 1871 -Edward W Edwards & Amelia E. - Richard is named as Son, Sophia his wife :-\
RG10/397 f69 p12
ADDED That census can't be right as ages of the Edwards couple make them around the same age as Richard ::)

According to FamilySearch, the marriage was on 25 December 1870 at St John the Baptist, Hoxton. That register is digitised on Ancestry, but at least six pages are missing from December 1870. So you’ll probably need the certificate, or get someone to look at the microfilm at LMA.

In this 1871 census, although the transcriber has wrongly linked him to the Edwards neighbours, Richard Flood is helpfully very specific about his birthplace: Masons Place, Middlesex.
So in 1861:
23 Mason's Place
Edward Flood Head Mar 56 Labourer St Luke's
Sarah do Wife Mar 56 Hoxton
Richard do Son 12 St Luke's
RG9/201/38/20
-
Baptism, St Luke's Finsbury
1 Oct 1848
Richard Flood, son of Edward (labourer) and Sarah, of Masons Place.

Edward and Sarah Flood are at 23 Mason's Place, St Luke's in the 1841 and 1851 censuses too.
It's not clear whether they registered all their children's births, but I have found this for Hannah (aged 2 in 1841):
Birth: Hannah Martha Flood mmn Mayo, Dec qtr 1838 St Luke's
Death: Hannah Martha Flood aged 5, Sep qtr 1844 St Luke's
-
Baptism, St Luke's Finsbury
1 Oct 1848
Richard Flood, son of Edward (labourer) and Sarah, of Masons Place.
Good find avm228. :)

Thank you everyone for all your hard work I would never have found all that
I don't think it can be the one with George as his father, as Richard shows on the 1871 census as unmarried and he married in 1870
The fathers occupation ties in however, as Richard was a blacksmith as well as George.
I think it is more than definite that Edward and Sarah Mayo were his parents, as in 1871 census Richard was said to be born St Luke's Middlemost , which ties in beautifully Thanks again

Have you noticed a Rebecca Dickson not Dixon aged 75 living with them in 1891?
