Title: Tracking down Glasgow warhero Sgt J.E.Dickson
Post by: Ad van Zantvoort on Saturday 09 December 17 16:14 GMT (UK)
Dear Members, I have been researching an Halifax bomber JD215 shotdown over Waalre 29th June 1943 for a very long time. I am in touch with almost all the crew relatives except a Glasgow airman named Sgt John Edwin Dickson. Only I have his servicenumber 1368890 so I don't know where to start. Sgt Dickson(Dixie) flew as a Flight Engineer on JD215. Hopefully someone of your members could bring the family in touch with me.

Regards,
Adrian

There was only one John Edwin Dickson born in Scotland he died as a baby so not the one you are looking for
There is a death of John Dickson age 22 you could download from Scotlands people which could give you the names of his parents if known I haven't seen a Service Return death record so not sure what details were recorded

CWGC says that John Edwin Dickson was a member of 419 (R.C.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, so perhaps you need to look in the Canadian Forces records?

Service Return deaths don't give parents' names.

Wendy; Thanks you very much indeed for your reply. I will look at Scotlands people and see what it says.
Forfarian; Indeed Sgt J.E.Dickson served as a Flight Engineer with 419 RCAF Sqdn but will not say that his name appears in the Canadian records. Many "foreigners" as British, New Zealanders,US served with Canadian Units but I can try. Thank you very much.

It's not a repetition but I thought maybe Glasgow and or Lancashire(Burnsley) could help :-[

You still need to link the threads together when you post in 2 different places - otherwise we end up looking at the same records and giving the same information.
