My son would like to see the latest version of the family tree; is there any way to do this without taking my laptop with me? He does not have any family tree software.
I'm hoping to visit him over Christmas.....and suspect the only way is to pack my laptop along with Christmas presents!

Do you have a tree on Ancestry?? If so, there is a facility to send an invitation and password to view your tree.
-
l assumed that he needs a family tree programme of sorts to pass a file over to him, if not I am interested myself to find out what to do, I have friends family trees here that they can never receive unless I send it in paper form, my own would take reams and reams of paper to copy, it is a shame to waste the information

I don't have a tree on Ancestry and have no plans for one but a good idea, thank you.

It is difficult to recommend a reasonably priced family tree programme, my own was bought for me and cost £20 over 20 years ago, it works for me, I paid for an update on the programme and couldn't get to grip with it so I am loath to replace it

If you had had "The Master Genealogist" you could use the "Second Site" program to create a web site which you can burn to a CD to post to your family.

Sadly I don't have that but a good idea; thank you.

Likewise, RootsMagic has RootsMagic-to-go ;D
Trees can be copied to CD-Rom, which can then be viewed on a TV.
-
Thanks KG; more ideas to consider.

Export to GEDCOM and then import to something like Brother's Keeper? It should be enough to show you the essentials.
-
Again, it would involve purchasing a program, but Heredis has an excellent feature whereby your tree can be uploaded to a website which you control by a password - all you need to do then is give the password to anyone you wish and the website can be seen by them. Very easy to use and update,

TribalPages. It's free. Upload your tree (GEDCOM) to it & send the link & password to him.
Example under my avatar.
-
Whichever programme you use probably has an option to save different displays of your tree as image files which you could email to your relative.
-
As jim1 said, Tribal pages, all you needto do is give them the access code to view the visitors version which will not show anybody you have designated alive.
You could get a dvd or flash drive of your tree from Tribalpages which will show the full version.
-
Plenty there to think about, thank you all very much. :-*
-
An update......we are road testing Tribal Pages.

Good luck
