Title: A date for this which was found in my grandfather's William Abbott's loft?
Post by: Neill Richard Potts on Wednesday 13 December 17 08:52 GMT (UK)
I'm trying to place these two people in my family Tree. I believe them to be my 1st cousins 4x removed with a date of about 1890/1900 but I need to be sure of the date. Is it possible to date the picture from the clothes they are wearing?

They both lived in Hull, East Yorkshire, England approx 1835 - 1930

There is a very slim possibility that they could be two other members of my family who both lived approx 1820 - 1900 but I think they would be too old to fit this photo/picture as they look in their 30's/40's which would make the photo/picture around 1850? ... a date for the photo/picture would be very useful.

The photo/picture is too large to scan and it has a very peculiar sheen to it which makes taking photographs of it with my limited digital camera hard.

Many thanks in anticipation that you can offer a date for the photo/picture.

Thanks Jim ... that's all I need to firmly place them as my cousins.  :D

Hi Neil...Is there a photo of a lady in the locket that she is wearing? If you scan just the locket area at 800dpi you may get an idea of who it might be.

Hi Carol
Well spotted ! I have never noticed the broach before. I did as you say but you cannot make any features out as it's already blurred.
Excellent thing to remember to look out for.
