Hello.
I am searching for a death certificate for Maurice Morgan born 1875 (PDF on the way, so I will have birth date in next few days).
There are two births in Uxbridge. One in 1875 (mine - hopefully!) and 1877 (shows linked as deceased 1912 and there is a death certificate available). Thanks to the new GRO tool I narrowed down the birth certificate order to the 1875 one as it had the maiden name on my current research.
The issue is that on the marriage certificate for son of Maurice Morgan it lists father but doesn't look like it says Maurice Morgan. I am awaiting the birth certificate of son to see if it lists differently - as I cannot find one in my storage, I'm sure it said Maurice but I'm trying to verify all my data from the beginning. There is mention on my notes of there being a nick name of Jesse, I cannot see any verification of this.
Maurice Morgan son Llewellyn Morgan (born 1917) is listed on the 1939 register with Alice Ethel Morgan and Jack Maurice Morgan. The 1911 census show Jack and (Alice) Ethel with Maurice. Same address as the marriage certificate of Llewellyn Morgan. I have a scan of this.
However there Alice has a birth date in 1882 and not 1880 like the matching birth certificate says (PDF on the way too, to confirm if same day, month maybe?).
In summary my aim is to find a death certificate? Is it possible it has been missed off the index?

Birmingham 8/11/1952 is given as the death of a Maurice Morgan birth Reg dec qtr 1875 Uxbridge on tree online. Marriage to a Louisa Goodchild.

The 1912 death does look a possible - there's a Morris Morgan in the uxbridge district on electoral registers up to 1912 (but not after)at the same address as Alice ethel and children on later registers.
If he did die in 1912, Llywelyn's father can;t be Maurice, and is possibly fudged on the marriage cert to hid the issue.

Oh, right.
I've actually just now found the birth certificate, it was uploaded already on a tree but not on my local storage. It clearly looks the same father name as marriage certificate. But not Maurice.

Thank you. That would match up to his parents I have previously on other records.
I'm trying to verify that I have the correct Maurice.

Thank you.

I forgot to add - the 1939 said widow. So I know the death of Maurice should be before 1939.
-
I'd say that Maurice died 1912 Uxbridge and Alice "took up" with his brother,Jess.

Would that mean I have the wrong parents for Maurice? As that Maurice who died is linked to the 1877 birth.
Looking again, I can only find one birth certificate now. Maybe it is 1912 that he died.
Would you say the birth certificate and marriage certificate attached previously say Jess Morgan?
MORGAN, JESS BARNES Order
GRO Reference: 1872 D Quarter in UXBRIDGE UNION Volume 03A Page 33
and death in 1920 which is fine asthe other siblings of Llewellyn born after 1912 all stop at 1920 so could be Jess too, but that would probably require birth certificates each ordered?
-
I've just seen the birth certificate says occupation of father as house painter.
Jess Morgan is listed on 1911 census as a house painter.
Mystery solved I believe. Thank you everyone.
-
I think I just found a marriage.
England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005
Name: Jess Morgan
Spouse: Alice E Mergan
Marriage: Jun 1917 - Brentford, Middlesex
Other: QFeb-Apr-May-Jun 1917
Edit: FreeBDM has it listed as the correct name of Morgan.
-
I think you have a winner! :)
Maureen
-
Thank you.
Since Jess Morgan according to GRO says mothers maiden name Barnes. Same mother maiden name as Maurice Morgan then I do have the rest of the ancestry correct. I just had the wrong brother / marriage as the father.
I will order Jess Morgan birth certificate so that I have his birth date for my records. Unless this can be looked up from other sources? (I cannot see any online from my subscriptions)

If he died after mid 1969 then his date of birth will be on the indexes.
Of course if you can find his baptism then if the vicar has been very kind the DOB may be in the records too.
And if he's around on the 1939 register then the DOB will be in that too.

I did find a death in 1920 so I will need to order the birth certificate to get the date as I cannot find a baptism.

Brother Edwin Morgan was baptized at Hillingdon Parish Church 2/5/1869
Jennifer

I also found possible death certificate for Frank Morgan, his brother.
Death: Jun 1935 - Uxbridge, Middlesex, England
I cannot find any marriages for him though and the last census he is listed as single in 1911.
Edit:
I also found Frank Morgan on a probate record on 1935 leaving his estate to Alice Ethel Morgan and listing address which matches up with previous data.
Maybe he didn't marry, or at least no children?
-
Thank you. That is a new brother for my data.
GRO shows this one to which seems too far away.

Marriage in 1859 was at St John the Baptist Hillingdon. Perhaps this was the church they used for the children?
