Title: What became of Elsie May ROBERTS b 13 Sep 1909?
Post by: Westy11 on Thursday 28 December 17 12:09 GMT (UK)
Elsie May ROBERTS b 13 Sep 1909 daughter of John ROBERTS and Alice PARSONS.

The process I have followed.

BIRTHS
As a process of elimination I looked for all Elsie May ROBERTS born between 1900 and 1917.
There were three Elsie May ROBERTS born between 1900 and 1917.
1.   1906 daughter of Samuel ROBERTS and Lillian May ROBINSON
2.   1906 daughter of William Sydney St George ROBERTS and Elsie MYCOCK
3.   1909 daughter of John ROBERTS and Alice PARSONS [mine].

DEATHS as a ROBERTS

I looked for a death for Elsie as a ROBERTS.

As per QLD BMD there were two Elsie May ROBERTS who died between 1909 and 1987. They were:
•   Died 1972 in Brisbane daughter of George Dolling LULY and Harriott Anne HASTINGS.
•   Died 1979 in country Queensland daughter of John WHITMAN and Alice Maud JONES

MARRIAGES

Two Elsie May ROBERTS marry between 1924 [my Elsie would have been 15] – 1942.

One married Cyril David MCINTYRE in Brisbane in 1927 & the other married Clarence Roy LIEBKE in country Queensland in 1939.

DEATHS of an ELSIE MAY

An Elsie May MCINTYRE who died in 1979 was the daughter of Sidney George CARVOLTH [?] and Priscilla THOMAS so this is definitely not the same Elsie May ROBERTS who married a MCINTYRE in 1927.

I can find no other Elsie May MCINTYRE within the timeframe.

I was unable to locate the death of an Elsie May LEIBKE between 1939 – 1987.

By 1987 my Elsie would be 78.

There is no Elsie May ROBERTS in Ryerson Index.

Census Records

In 1936 Elsie is living with her mother in Toowoomba and employed as a Waitress.
In 1937 – 1939 Elsie May ROBERTS is living at Condamine St Dalby. Elsie is with two of her brothers and her parents.

I have not been able to locate her after this date.  There are no burials for her in the Western Downs.

I have not extended to purchasing her mother or fathers death certificate and had hoped not to add to the expense.

A newspaper article on the death of her mother names the siblings most likely alive at the time as

“ROBERTS. The Relatives and Friends of the late John Roberts (Dalby). Mr. William Roberts [Coolangatta]. Mr. and Mrs. W. Kaehler (Dalby). Mr. and Mrs. G. Howard (Coolangatta). Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts (Brisbane), Mr, and Mrs. H. Hill (Murgon), Mr. and Mrs. R. Herron (Sydney), Mr. and Mrs. Ben Roberts (Dalby). Mr and Mrs. Rex. Roberts (Toowoomba). Mr. and Mrs. Syd Roberts (Tweed Heads) and Families are respectfully Invited to attend the Funeral of his late beloved Wife, their Mother. Mother-ln-law, and Grandmother. Mrs. Alice Roberts, to move from the Dalby Salvation Army Citadel To-day (Thursday) at 3.30 p.m.. for the Dalby Cemetery.”.

I know each person mentioned in the extract other than Mr, and Mrs. H. Hill (Murgon).  I cannot locate the applicable marriage between HILL and ROBERTS.

Not sure where else to look so seeking some input.

Clarence Roy Liebke died in 1940:

Elsie May Roberts of DALBY was his wife of only six months or so.  As that's where your Elsie was from around 1939, this sounds possibly like a first marriage for her.

So it is possible that you are looking for a remarriage of Elsie May Liebke to Henry Hill after 1940. Since online marriage records for Queensland end at 1942, it may well be that she did not marry him until later (perhaps towards the end of the war?)

Another article, slightly earlier, about the accident:
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/216788070?searchTerm=Liebke
names Mr and Mrs J Roberts, Condamine St, whose daughter was married to C. R. Liebke.
