Title: Missing William Dingle
Post by: kesaunders79 on Saturday 30 December 17 18:32 GMT (UK)
Hi everyone

I have 'lost' my 4 x Great Grandfather William Dingle born 1809 in Talland, Cornwall who I have in every census in Cornwall up to 1891 when I just cannot locate the correct death nor burial for him thereafter. There are a couple others around the same time but I have ruled them out after checking.

His daughter, my 3 x Great Grandmother Susan Dingle married Thomas Mutton in Alderney in 1857 so there was a Channel Island connection once before.

Just wondered if anyone may be able to 'find' him sometime from 1891+ ?
Was just another thought as to his possible whereabouts.

Many thanks  :)

Hi where do you have him in 1891 census, as I can see a William Dingle 80 b Talland occ Butcher shown as Father in Law in Liskeard?

Hi keyboard86

Yes thats the one, living with his daughter and family the Edwards. After that I can't locate him, there are a few other William Dingles that died around that time but i've ruled them all out as different people. I've even written to the local registrar at Liskeard just in case his entry had been missed from the GRO indexes but no luck. I can only assume he moved on somewhere else although was getting on a bit!

OK I have eliminated the Tavistock Devon death have you also eliminated the St Austell death 1894 aged 86?

Yeah I believe he was of St Ewe and is in the census returns and buried there off the top of my head 😀

I had a look for a will from 1891 to 1905 on https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills but unless William changed his occupation, I couldn't find a match.
