Title: Ancestors in Inveraray Jail?
Post by: nanny jan on Monday 01 January 18 11:17 GMT (UK)
Just returned from a Christmas break to visit family in Scotland and one day we took a trip to visit the jail.  I have a few leaflets about the jail and county court and am happy to post them;  just send me a PM.
It's a great tourist attraction.....thoroughly enjoyed by 6 adults and 5 dogs!  :)

It's about 15 years since I visited, and it was pretty good then, too. Well worth a visit.

I don't think I have any relatives who were incarcerated there, but I've found a few elsewhere. #

Most of the smaller Victorian prisons have gone now, but it gives you something extra if you can see where they did their porridge.

It is a long time since we visited Inveraray Jail. Must put it on our to do list for next, oops sorry this year. :-[

Just out of interest the Inveraray & District Pipe Band won the world championships in August. Did you hear them play nanny jan when you were visiting?

They were on the telly last night (BBC1 Scotland) playing and marching round the streets of the town. :)

No band playing when we were there but it was a cold and rainy day.
