William Henry Rogers born 1881 Spitalfield, Middlesex, UK Married 1906 Thames NZ Elizabeth Annie West. In 1914- living at Okoroire, 1928 William - Storeman at Maungaturoto, 1957 - they are living in Tauranga. My query is - did William & Elizabeth have a family?
William Henry's parents are both first cousins of my Grandfather.
Hoping someone can help me. Kind regards, Margaret.

Hi Jeanette,
Thank you so much for site of the cemetery. I have saved a photo of the Headstone. No, it doesn't look like there were any children. Is the cemetery in Tauranga or Thames do you know? Also there is a Will for both of them through Archive Auckland. Perhaps I should purchase a copy - especially William as he died after Elizabeth - would that give me clues? regards, Margaret

Hi Margaret,
Tauranga is the answer.
Minniehaha.

Thanks, minniehaha, I was just checking as on Ancestry it said it was 'Totara', Thames Valley. regards, Margaret

I do wish Ancestry would review and put right their cemeteries they make it so hard to work out.

Just looked, shows the Registration Place was Tauranga. There was a Death Notice put in the paper.

There were actually two listings for Elizabeth Annie ROGERS ("NZ Cemetery Records" @ Ancestry")
and if you look at the page which says "Totara, Thames Valley" it is actually headed "Burial Records - Tauranga NZ - 1881-1992" : ;)

No, I haven't sighted the Death Notice, just a wee mention in one of my resources. :) It can be viewed at the major libraries, or you could email the National Library at Wellington, clicking on the "Ask a Librarian" link and ask for a copy of the death notice that appeared in the NZ Herald.

Another way to get the Notice is through the Funeral Directors .... wonder who the informant was.
The Funeral Director was Watney Siburn & Sons.
Janette, are they still operating?

Hi KHP,yes they are still in business and usually very helpful, maybe Elizabeth died in Auckland for Sibuns to be involved.I notice on the cemetery records for both William and Elizabeth JONES AND COMPANY FUNERAL SERVICES are listed as the FD.
Here is the email for Sibuns
https://www.fdanz.co.nz/fdanz-funeral-directors
Scroll down to Sibuns.
If you copy and paste the cemetery record to your email it helps get the correct information,
Cheers Janette

Thanks Janette, Watney Sibun was for William. Perhaps they used two FD's :-\

It looks like the Tauranga cemetery record is incorrect
Plot Id: PRESBYTERIAN*B3565
Warrant Id: B3565
Warrant Type: BURIAL
Ashes:
First name: WILLIAM HENRY
Surname: ROGERS
Date of Birth:
Age: 84
Date of Death: 01/04/1965
Burial/Cremation Date: 01 APR 1965
Funeral Director/Family Representative: JONES AND COMPANY FUNERAL SERVICES
Cemetery: PRESBYTERIAN
Block: SECTION 5A
Row: 4
Plot Location: 56
On narrowing the date of death it come out as
1965/38295 Rogers William Henry 84Y exact date is 30/3/1965
I was wondering how they managed to bury him the same day as he died if he was transported from Auckland to Tauranga ;D ;D
Maybe Jones and Company can supply death notices
