Title: Search for Heath family from Warwickshire
Post by: RSGrosse on Wednesday 03 January 18 13:45 GMT (UK)
Hello. My 11th great grandfather, James Heath (1658-1731) came to the Colony of Maryland from Warwickshire around 1670. He was one of seven children born to Nicholas Heath (1624-1696) and Elizabeth Hartley (1630-1709).

According to baptismal records, all, but one, of James' siblings were baptized in Warwick. His youngest sibling, Isack (b. 1666), was baptized in Lea Marston.

I am looking for information about the parents of Nicholas and Elizabeth. I read that his parents were Robert and Elizabeth (Gardiner) Heath and her parents were John and Bridget (Wakefield) Hartley; however, I cannot confirm that these names are accurate.

Any information you can provide me with is greatly appreciated. I received a series of website links from the Warwickshire Historical Society via e-mail; however, I could not find anything helpful in those sites.

Thank you for this information.  I had no idea that Nicholas had any siblings.

Hi
Me again ,sorry I ran out of time yesterday.

Siblings for Elizabeth -John 28.10.1632 s of John,Katherine 25.11.1634 d of John-buried 14 Feb 1641 ,Mary 3.4.1636 d of John and Bridget and buried 27th May 1639,Richard 27.5.1638 s of John and Bridget.Buried 2 Feb 1642.
Bridget was buried 7th July 1639.
Not much luck there for John.
John remarried 6.2.1639 to widow Dorothy Stone (her first husband was probably Thomas who was buried 26 Aug 1639 old calendar)Daughter Mary Stone bapt 23 Nov 1635.
She also dies and is buried 7th Jan 1641.
I can't see John after son's Richard's burial 1642.

So Robert Heath Gentleman is on the Hearth Tax at Plankett Place Warwick ,taxed for one chimney 1662-1671.(2nd house after you turn in from Jury St should you visit.)

Nick Heath also on there 1671 in Smith st off the High St with a Makepeace.
1673 he has 2 chimneys and is living on his own in Smith St 23rd house down from High St.
Also at  Lea Marston 1 chimney 1670.
So it looks like he has a business and a family home or he could just have moved back to Warwick in 1671

Thomas Heath in Jury St 1 hearth 1671

I don't know if Robert Heath is the father or brother.
There is a Elizab
Walter buried 11 Dec 1675
He was a woolman and his son Samuel was apprenticed in London to Samuel Lovell 27 May 1675.

That's all I have.

Thank you for this information.  Finding things from the US about families in England is extremely difficult, if not impossible.  My wife and I have spoken about one day visiting the Midlands to see where my family came from.

If Elizabeth is connected to Robert, this is probably Nicholas' sister-in-law.

Now that we found my 12th great grandparents and Nicholas' siblings, I am going to look for my mother's family (Tate) from England.  Here is what I already know.

In regard to the Tate family, the only information I have for the first Tates to come the US is: John Tate (b. 1815) from Northumberland (I apologize for not mentioning that earlier) and Rosanna NN (b. 1817) from Ireland.  I have no idea where they married.  They initially settled in NYC since their oldest son, William (b. 1839) was born there.  Eventually, the entire family moved to Kentucky.  I would love to find out more information about John and Rosanna, if possible.

Any information you could find would be greatly appreciated.
