Post by: derekjwatson25 on Thursday 04 January 18 15:51 GMT (UK)
I am trying to find some information on Doctor David Smyth born in Co Tyrone about 1850 ? He married a Monteith .His father is Robert Smyth and his mother was Margaret McMordie. Ive tried inputting this into Ancestry and did not find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly what sort of information are you looking for? Civil registration of births started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate.

Can't see him in 1901 or 1911 census in Ireland. Did he stay in Ireland?

"He married a Monteith" where and when? and what details are on that certificate?

What 'County Tyrone and Ancestry' records have you already checked? Civil registration of births started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate. There might, or might not, be a baptism record surviving but it's unlikely to be in any Ancestry database and not all church records are online.
First complete census for Ireland is 1901. It and 1911 are online (free) but he doesn't look to be listed so he either died before 1901 or wasn't living in Ireland then.
Have you tried contacting the tree owner for more information? many people don't put everything online and it's possible that person has family details.

Hello,

Is there a better connection on the tree? Through the parents perhaps?
It is puzzling why these people would be on a tree if there is no other link.
