Hi my uncles James pyott born 1916 and Colin pyott born 1909 both Port Glasgow Scotland UK. James moved to New Zealand after the second world war not sure when and Colin immigrated to New Zealand I believe late sixties early seventies. I would like as much info as to date of arrival, employment and date and place of death. Thank you very much for any help I receive. Yours Ian pyott.

Hi
As someone has already found Colin in the NZ electoral rolls I took a look for James and once I noted down the other James Pyott I believe your James is the only other candidate left.
1957 He resides at Burns House , Mosgiel, Mornington Otago as a mill worker. He is still there in 1963 but the area down as Central Otago. In 1972 he is in Sydenham Cantebury as a cook.1978 he has moved north to Auckland but is still a cook. I haven't found a death but of course he may still be alive or hopped across the water to Australia.
I know you said you didn't know of any Pyotts in NZ before your uncles but don't you think it is a bit of a coincidence James went down to Otago for work when the other family was there. Perhaps another family strand to check out. It is an unusual name. The other family emigrated in 1914.
Hope this helps a bit. If you are interested there is some good info on the internet about Arthur Burns and his mills and how he looked after his employees.
I worked out Colin's date of death from the online NZ records as 20/05/1992 but haven't found any burial/cremation. Perhaps someone in NZ has better access.
Regards
KK

Minniehaha thank you everything looks good except name date of birth is correct. I find the name problem a lot so many variations. Thanks again Ian.
-
Hello Ian,
With the surname being rare here, either spelling, I think we can be sure that the James found, is indeed your man; the birth date being the clincher.
I will see if there was a newspaper death notice for Colin. If there was one for James, the funeral directors will hopefully provide you with the details........
