I am hoping someone might be able to have a look for a marriage - it should be in 1881
Between
James William KENDALL, born Aug 1854 from either Shoreditch, Middlesex, England or Dorking, Surrey, England, Father: James William KENDALL, Upholsterer (aka William or William James)
And
Mary (surname unknown) born approx. 1864 from Adelaide, S Australia
James William KENDALL was first married to Ruth Elizabeth STONEMAN on 5 Aug 1876 at Masterton. Ruth was gone back to Jersey, Channel Islands by 1881 census and she stated in 1911 census that she had 3 children.
I have the birth of first son, Julius William KENDALL 4 July 1877 at Masterton and I understand that Maud Elizabeth KENDALL, born 18 Dec 1875 in Wellington (before her parents married) was called Elizabeth on her birth certificate but she later goes by Maud

Thank you Milliepede. Yes, some of it was posted years ago but at that time I had not learned of his new wife. Just hoping for some news on that front! ::)

* why you think this James William KENDALL had a further marriage
* why you have given the bride's name as Mary ?
* And why specifically the marriage would have been circa 1881 ?

Incidentally, the James William KENDALL you speak of, does not appear to have died in New Zealand.
The only death for a person of that name was in 1950 - a man who had worked as a labourer - born circa 1865.
James William KENDALL - of Hammond Street, Bulls (Rangitikei district) - retired - aged 85 years - died 18 January 1950. Buried at Marton Cemetery.

There is a James William Kendall born about 1857 and a Mary Kendall born about 1864 Adelaide, South Australia, on the 1911 Census.
Perhaps he married in England?
