Somehow my useful record of bookmarks has disappeared from the options and the whole of the Firefox search looks different.
Can anyone suggest how to get them back, as I have tried various Mozilla sites and gone round in circles.
Plain language only please.

I presume you updated Mozilla to their new Quantum. If you can find a site that lets you download Mozilla Firefox version 56.0.2 then things will return to normal.
I've given up on Mozilla, and am using Chrome now, all my bookmarks are there and I can also pin tabs of pages I've got open. It's much quicker than Mozilla and more user friendly. I have to say when Chrome was new I didn't like it but it seems more user friendly now.

Same thing happened to me, I did find them again and have them now as two folders on the toolbar along the top.
I'm not on my own computer just now so can't remember how I found them, I'll have a look when I get home if you don't get the answer you need in the meantime.

If you go View
Is Bookmarks ticked?

I don't have those choices across the top.
(Edited to add) but just managed to find them by right clicking at the top.
I uses the thing with 3standing black lines and the 4th tilted, than Bookmarks, at the bottom show all bookmarks. In the box that opens I dragged Other Bookmarks and Bookmarks Menu to the bar under the web address etc.

Yes it can be personalized many ways.
I suggest the best thing to do is run Firefox Installer which should be in Downloads folder (Default location).
Firefox, not open, when running Installer!!

This happened to me earlier in the week. No tool bars were showing so I did what Sinann did and they came back as before :)

Thanks for all suggestions. I have been going round in circles again without getting any sight of the old bookmarks, so will be starting afresh with a different browser.
You are all very helpful and I am grateful.

Mine has something similar to Sinann (they're books!) but also to the left is a star with a line underneath. If I click on that star it shows my bookmarks as it did before.
Must admit it threw me for a while after the update. :-\

To clarify... The little "books" symbol is called "library" - and brings up lots of things like History, Downloads and BOOKMARKS, and others. The "star" symbol is called "bookmarks" , and brings up Bookmarks!
-
I don't have that star, the only star I have is the one for bookmarking this page.

Go to the "Books" symbol and click to open. Open Bookmarks, then Bookmarking Tools (Spanner Icon) Select the option to add the Bookmarks Menu to the Toolbar. It will now appear to the left of the address bar. Hey, presto! you have your bookmarks on hand.

Excellent, finally, normal service has been resumed.
Thank you :D :-*
