Hi,
Am looking for the above. He was married to Margaret Evans in 1833 at St Peters Church. My 2 nd great grandmother is his daughter Jane Mary.
I think he had other children namely James Robert, William Richard, Margaret Ellen.
So far I cant find evidence of his baptism, nor census info for 1851 and 1861, nor his date of death.
Can anybody assist please.
Thanks
Sue

When do you last have him on census
-
It would also be helpful if you could give us dates/years and places of birth for the children. Where do you have them in 1841. Is it just James you are missing in 1851/61 or Margaret and family as well
-
Hi Rosie 99.
I have him in 1841 living with his wife in Troughers Court, Leeds Street with Margret b 1840, Jane b 1839, William b 1836.
On Jane;s wedding cert he is described as a mariner.

this looks like Jane Mary's baptism although church not named.....can't read street name but father is a Mariner.

Hi all,
Thanks for the details. Yes it seems that you have my James Young as they are the children that I have on my tree and I know that he was a mariner so thats great.
I also came across the birth records saying that he was a base child to a widow Mary Young at Hackins Hey in Lpool but cant get much more info than that as to his parents or if there are any siblings .
Thanks

Hi All,
I am back digging for info on James Young my 3rd GGF. As he was born a base child in Liverpool to Mary Young in 1813 , I wonder if Mary Young is her widowed name ( if indeed she was a widow ) or her maiden name? Also I cannot find if Mary Young gave birth to any more children around that period. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can obtain more details on Mary ??
Thanks

Is this the baptism you mean :-\
Lancs opc has a baptism at St Anne Richmond, Liverpool on 5 December 1813 for a James Young son of Mary Young, a widow.
Emeltom
It also mentions that the child is 'Baseborn'
-
Yes thats the one Rosie.
Obviously difficult to get more information as its marked as illegitimate but I wondered if Mary had more children or if she was ever married etc
-
Have you checked if there are any witnesses to James marriage who could be related.
Have you looked in the records for St Ann Richmond for 'Youngs' who could be Mary's late husband (ie their death) or her children.
Is there a bastardy order for James.
-
Hi Rosie,
I checked StAnnes Richmond for the "Young" name on both baptism and marriage but nothing significant crops up but thanks for that idea.
What is a bastardy order ???
-
It is an order to pay maintenance for a child outside of a marriage. Records are often held at local record offices if they exist. Newspapers may also mention them
