Title: COMPLETED: Place of birth on a Victorian birth record
Post by: tedscout on Sunday 14 January 18 01:57 GMT (UK)
I have a birth record that has the place listed as PRNHURST.

Can anyone help with where this place is.

I don't want to buy the full birth certificate as I know all about this lady except where she was born.

Thanks for reading, thanks in advance for helping,

Cheers Ted

Thank you so much for the link Floozy.

There are a few trees on the net with it assumed to be Penshurst, but looking at where the rest of the family were born it didn't make much sense.

First 2 were born in Christchurch NZ, then next one born in Montrose Victoria, then there is my girl born "Prnhust", then then 6 born in Ballarat.

Oh well, I will keep thinking.

Cheers, Ted

Hi
Please provide the name of the person and the year of the birth so the entry you have can be checked against other offline resources. May help clarification.

Good suggestion Sue.

You could also check the person's death registration on Vic BDM as many now show the place of birth.

Thanks Cup of Life. Everyone here is always so helpful.

That solves that question.

Now just to figure out what the family were doing there (apart from having children that is).

Cheers, Ted

Thanks Cando.

I've bought the certificate.

The place of birth shows Yalinba, Shire of Mount Rouse. I can find it listed in Gazettes but not on a map.

The other entrys on the page are in Penshurst and Boram Boram.

The father's job is listed as Labourer.

So thanks for your help everyone.

Cheers, Ted

Thank you everyone again for your help.

I have now scrolled through the Gazettes and found a map where Penshurst was proclaimed as a township. The map includes an area called Yalimba.    So apart from why they went there for 2 years, I can now picture where they lived.

Once again the gang at Rootschat are amazing and can solve what I think are the most unsolveable questions.

I am declaring this one SOLVED.

Woo Hoo. Thanks again Roots Chat Friends.

Luv, Ted.

Perhaps one of the reasons Wm moved to Ballarat.

The Hamilton Spectator 1887

Scroll down to Township of Penshurst.
