Hi
This couple baptised their so John, my ancestor in the parish of Linton in 1630, so I suspect the wedding to have been c1626. It is a very unusual Christian name, which I have not found amongst my many Cambridgeshire forebears.
Kind Regards
David

That is great another 2 generations. Is there any sign of a marriage of Sampson and Margaret or a birth for Ann Bentley around 1605 please
Many thanks

Hi..
There are 2 other marriages for Sampson Free also in Linton.
1592 to Mary Hockley 1st Nov.
1593 to Katerine Ashbie 4th Nov.
There is a death for a Mary Free in Jan 1592 but that would not be right unless due to the date of marriage possibly shown wrongly.
I have transcribed from very old records myself and have had dates that did not follow in the text. A favourite is " baptised 5 days after our lady's day" it then threw the dates out with the following baptisms.
So it's possible he was widowed at some point.
There is also a baptism in 1571 for Sampson Free however no parents given. All in Linton.

Hi Tazzle
I am sure that the wedding with Samson and Margaret Hammond as the baptism of Percival has his parents as Samson & Margaret.

Different calendar in use then (changed in 1742) so in 1592 Jan was after November as the year began in late March (lady day I think). So the marriage and then the death is in the correct time order for 1592.
