I'm researching my Great Grandfather, James Bailey, baptised Biddulph, Staffordshire, UK, Aug 26th 1866, married 1894 to Annie Willatt, raised 5 children: Annie, James Arthur, Mary, Clara and Ethel.
At some point after 1901 he left for the USA - so far cannot trace ship movement. He died somewhere in the USA, believed to be around 1906 - could be slightly earlier or later - James Arthur (his son) army records identify this.
One other aspect is he had used the name James Moss on the 1891 census in the UK.
The only other information we have are 2 large pictures of him in his coffin! This suggests he was given a Christian service.
Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Parents: Elizabeth Bailey, father unknown but believed to be George Moss of Rushton Spencer, nr Leek Staffs.

Based on evidence from the censuses 1871, 1891, 1901, his occupation, listed in order, scholar, coal miner, general carter & haulier. Sorry, I cannot find reference to him in 1881. There is a possibility he worked at other trades, even a woodcutter or 'lumberjack'. The reason I say this is I do have one photo, believed to be of him, with a group forest workers.
