Title: Joseph Boon & Alice Annie Boon Nee Milroy
Post by: ccaufield on Wednesday 17 January 18 16:34 GMT (UK)
Hello,

I'm a new member to the board, I hope I am using the posting guidelines correctly.

I am searching for any descendants of Joseph Boon & Alice Annie Milroy
Joseph b. about 1902 to William Boon & Jane Boon ne Donnelly in Glasgow
Alice Annie b. about 1909 to William Milroy and Margaret Laidlaw nee McGreath ( I think)

Joseph and Alice were married June 12th, 1936 in Glasgow, Scotland.

I don't have death dates for either.

I would love some assistance to find children of Joseph and Alice.

Thank-you!

Thanks so much - one more piece to the puzzle! Is it ok to ask where you sourced the information ? ( my apologies if this is rude) - just hoping to learn some tricks as I go.

If you register with Scotlandspeople the indexes are free to search , however there are limits to the certificates that can be downloaded -

Thank-you! I've been searching ScotlandsPeople, but obviously I have some work to do on my search skills!

Some background on this search ( it's a bit of a convoluted story) My Great Grandfather Richard Craddock Gray Immigrated to Canada in 1924. Sometime between 1924 - 1928 ish he left his wife & 4 kids and to our current family knowledge, disappeared. My Grandmother remarried in 1948, so I assume there was a divorce? A distant cousin and I have worked together to trace Richard, who we recently discovered went back to Scotland, remarried Catherine Boon (Joseph's sister) in 1944, and they both passed in 1966 ( 20 days apart), they had no children. Joseph signed the death certificate of both of them. I am hoping to find the child or grandchild of Joseph and Alice in hopes of finding some memories or even photos of my Great Grandfather. I now have an idea of his movements, but no idea of the story of his life.

Any suggestions where I can search for Obituaries for Alice or Joseph? Thank-you!

Could be completely unconnected but there is an Alice Boone born in 1938 in Townhead.  It looks like she might have married Ian Campbell in Pollock in 1961.
I looked on geni.com and it said that Alice Annie had a daughter also called Alice but the surname given was Milroy but I can't find that daughter but it could possibly be the one above?   The contact person was given as David Owers.   Could be leading you up a blind alley.

I've sent an email to David Owers - hopefully he can shed some light on the search - thank-you!

There is also a further birth the year before in 1937 in Townhead which includes the name of Alice's father.

You then possibly have the war years and no children?.

A futher unnamed/male Boone birth reg in 1944 in Townhead. This baby died that year and his death is registered in Townhead/Glasgow. Whilst you cannot view births within 100 yrs, you can view deaths on line for that year (50yr privacy rule). This will let you confirm whether you are on the right track for children to Alice Milroy and Joseph Boone.

Possible marriage for likely son born in 1937 in 1962 in Govan. There may be some electoral rolls right up to a few years ago for him. I don't want to post details here as it is too recent and given birth years we are discussing, people could still be alive.

Will send you a personal message with it :)
