Title: NZ Birth records @BDM
Post by: suemillie on Thursday 18 January 18 03:13 GMT (UK)
Hi,
Could someone enlighten me please on our birth records.  With the 100 year rule, I am looking to find a birth registration for June 1918. I assume that they come online on a month to month basis as opposed to opening them for the year - I guess that would be too much to expect?

Also is the information transposed from the Microfiche or directly from the original records?  My father's registration is not on the microfiche so I am hoping that it was simply missed originally and it may come to light now - if only!

Cheers
Sue

Can't answer your questions Sue, but if you live in New Zealand, the best idea might be to contact BDM........

I think the index  finds entries to the day for the time limitations.

The index returns births  for.....eg......Mitchell......18th to 19th January 1918.

Not for 19th to 20th.....20th to 21st.......etc.

The Birth registration records available at NZ BDM online, differ from those which appear on microfiche, in that they have been allocated a new numbering system and also include the names of the mother and father (or N/R > "not recorded" in cases where that information was not supplied at time of registration).
