Post by: Lambendsor (aka IGS) on Sunday 21 January 18 19:52 GMT (UK)
This postcard pictures Kaiser Wilhelm II and his family, so I gather it was written before 1918. But I don't know who did the writing: it came from my great-aunt (born 1896), who was an ethnic German from the Banat in Hungary, but my great-uncle (born 1893) was from Flensburg, Germany. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I start to sputter out after "Ich habe..."

Found another Post card!

Here is what i can read.
ich habe verkehrt die Adresse geschrieben aber da ich nur Postmarke daraufmache werd ich nicht ?

There could be a name at the bottom ....Enid?    added: no name it says "sein"

Does not say much, the interesting bit is that the postcard is one of the newest in Berlin. Perhaps you can work out the date from there.

Thank you for the transcription - I've had this card since childhood, and have been meaning to get a sense of what it says. Here's the front, for the sake of completeness. And now I see that it's likely from 1905-06... earlier than I thought.

The Engagement of the Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and the German Crown Prince Wilhelm took place on 4. September 1904. Your card was printed for this occasion . Pity the writer did not mention a name.
