My sister & I found this photo in our mothers photos some time ago. We are trying to identify who it is and and we are wondering about what date it was and if you can confirm it was a school photo.
When did school photos start to be taken?
I think this must have been a relative.
Also if anyone can restore it as it has been sadly misused then that would be great.
Thank you.

Definitely a school photo. Difficult to date but, going on my own and my sister's school photos, I'd say taken early-mid 1950s

PS - I think individual school photos started late 1940s-early 50s.

1950s would be my guess too.

Thank you very much for the dates. So looks like the consensus is 1950's. Thought it was late 40's or into the 50's as I can remember the kilts with straps and the jumpers which itched. I sometimes had a kilt with a 'bodice' which was better as the straps didn't keep dropping down.
Her teeth look like they are secondary ones so wonder what age? Around 8? :-\ :-\
Thank you both very much for the restores. I am amazed you can restore a photo with so many creases and so quickly. I tried with a program - once only! ;D ;D. Thank you very much.

Think I'd say about 8-9. I was still getting my second teeth when I was 11 - I have a school photo at that age with obvious signs of them - my adult incisors grew out above the baby ones* :-X
I remember those kilts, etc. :)
Gadget
* fortunately, they grew down perfectly ;D

Hi Judy...One from me too...I would say about 9ish..I had a kilt too...cherry coloured corduroy with a bib.

Here it is...me on the right...1954

Thank you for the replies.
Yes agree with 8 or 9. Unusual to have secondary teeth growing and not pushing the baby ones out. Having said that my daughter now aged 39 still has two baby teeth - the second teeth simply weren't there. Apparently it runs in families.
Thank you for the restore Treetotal. I like that too.
Think I had a corduroy one with a bib too. :)

Love the tinted photo of early 50's and note the ribbon as opposed to hair slide.
I would suggest the girl with plaits is likely to be late 40's.

That's a good one and you have her hair slide in. (Those type of slides were always breaking!!)
Just sending some of the photos to my sister & Cousins for identification.
