Emily was born 27.9.1880 in Up Cerne, Dorset and married Frank Evans on the 21.8.1897 (place not known)
For a time they lived in Pontypool before moving to Branksome.
I understand they had 8 children, Alice, George, Rose, Arthur, Wilfred and Frank.
Apart from the above and details of Emily's parents and siblings , I know nothing of their occupations or anything else about her or Frank.
Any information would be greatfully received.
Many thanks
Mark

A huge thank you for all your fantastic work. I assume Hannah Evans died and he remarried Ann, unless unusually Ann is shortened version of Hannah. The only occupation I have for Frank is a galvanizer but I would be surprised if he didn''t do something else.
Emily was fairly young when she married so probably didn't work or perhaps a parlourmaid in Bristol.
I had heard of the Pontypool connection but no idea that they lived in my home city of Bristol.
You have been fantastic.

Emily Evans is a common name and I can't track down where and when she died. If this info is at hand it would be very helpful.
Thanks Mark

Hi I would be looking in Dorset or perhaps Hampshire for the deaths of both Frank and Emily, believe in 1939 they were in Poole?
A couple of likely/possible deaths for both of them.

I think Hannah/Ann Evans nee Gibbs are one and the same BUT there is a daughter named Sarah Ann born Chew Magna c1858, haven't found a birth entry on GRO indexes yet, or for William & Amelia ???
Perhaps there is another Evans family with similar names, born around same time - will recheck
John, George, Ellen, Frank & Bertie all have mmn GIBBS
John & Hannah Gibbs married 1862, index marriage says both were single

Many thanks for additional info. Still currently finding death of Frank and Emilya challenge.

Hi as an example if you play around with birth year +/-1 for Emily Evans we have Emily Evans born 26th September 1880 died Dec gtr 1969 Bournemouth 6b 621, not suggesting it is your Emily, but an example.
Frank different death place, possibly?

Many thanks, I did think there was a good possibily that Emily died in 1969 as it appears to fit and a less promising one for Frank dated 1942 but in the right area but it seems to have a 2nd initial that makes me think it is not the Frank, I'm looking for.
-
;) Hate to say this but a death certificate for either would answer your question/concerns?

PS a Frank b c 1879 in Christchurch Hants 1963?

This does seem very likely to be his death and I note your advice re death cert.
Thanks Mark

Mark, if you do follow up either/both of these deaths, I do not know if you have purchased bmd certificates in the past, but if not please use only the GRO as supplier?!
And please come back if correct purchases.

It is always worth looking at the probate calendar. I think on that basis you can probably rule out the 1942 death . He was Frank Douglas Evans of Wimbourne Road Bournemoith -probate to Ada Gertrude Evans widow. (Suggest you look at the 1939 register to confirm this).
