Larwick? Think I can see a dot for an 'i'. Could do with a slightly bigger snip to compare known letters.

I think the first word is Larwick.

Associated with this thread? http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=776824.msg6305561#msg6305561

So from that thread it is KNOWN to be Larwick - why post again?

Jen - I emailed them before and they never replied.

I'm really very surprised. I have always had prompt and helpful replies.

They have finally replied. Apparently "Larwick" is how the Shetlanders themselves spelt it.

They have also given me new leads to chase. So, quite helpful all in all.

Just to add, as I contributed to the other thread, I think the letters   N.B = North Britain rather than Northumberland.

Chris:
The baptism in question is I think, going by your other linked threads, from Robinson's Lane Presbyterian in Sunderland.

Here is what Durham Records Online has to say:

Most of the members of the Presbyterian congregation were of Scottish extraction, arriving in Sunderland as seamen, soldiers, shipwrights, etc.

I agree, I think Northumberland would more likely be written Nbl (i.e. 'b' not capitalised)
