Thanks so much for your help! Much appreciated.

I believe the Orient was taking troops to South Africa early 1901. Does that mean that the full names of these people are (Privates) Thomas Francis Lynch & Michael James Lynch?

Thank you so much for your reply.
You might have helped solve this for me.
I was looking for a Terence Francis Lynch and a Mary Lynch who migrated to Australia from Ireland/India.
Also, in Australia there was a fund set up for The Empire's Patriotic Fund Applications it seems one of my ancestors applied. At least I realise what happened now.
This is him. (Although he died on 25 Dec 1905 in Victoria, Australia age 36) I am not sure how successful he was with his application.
Description: 225 - Edward James Lynch
South African Light Horse
Edward James Lynch
Date range: 1901 - 1901
Thank you Tree Spirit!
I appreciate you time and effort in resolving that.
Thanks again
Karen :-)

Hi,
you say..........
I was looking for a Terence Francis Lynch and a Mary Lynch who migrated to Australia from Ireland/India.
was she Mary Barrett?
And did they marry in Mallow, County Cork?
Maggsie

Yes Maggsie, that is correct.
-
Ok, thanks.
I see a few records for both T F amd M J.
Do you have their medal records?
Maggsie
-
Thank you Maggsey but unfortunately I was looking for the Terence Francis LYNCH or Mary Lynch nee Barrett, from Ireland and India (then Victoria, Australia) you found the records for but only up until 1878. So they are not the same people on board the Orient to Capetown SA.
Thank you for your help though!
Much appreciated!

So you have the ship called the Ben Nevis in 1873?
The 1899 to 1902 Medal records?
Ok I will delete them.

Hello again Maggsie
I have the ship called Ben Nevis. Thank you. I trace Terence from his Marriage record, Army record and then Ben Nevis to Australia from Calcutta. His deserting his wife Mary twice and being arrested twice but nothing after that that I can confirm. :-\
Thanks Maggsie
