This is part of a marriage cert which shows Edward's place of birth plus parents names.
I think I have this so far :
Birth place appears to be ......ingsberg Germany
Father: LudwigWillowhite(originally Willuwiet or similar)
Something else is written after his surname which I cant decipher (different handwriting)
Mother: Wilhelmina ..... (possibly Pruger)
Would appreciate any suggestions please
Thanks

What date was this?
I think it's Köningsberg - which can be written as Koeningsberg.
It was in East Prussia, and is now called Kaliningrad.
Königsberg was the easternmost large city in Germany until World War II.

Thanks KG - looks like I'll need a bigger map ;D
Edward was born about 1855-1860 and I assume his parents were married prior to that time.
OK - thanks for the edit ..
I thought that the place name started with the same letter as the Mother's surname, maybe "P" ???
They look similar

I think the mother's name is Kruger.
I think it's Koenigsberg (no "n" between "i" & "g").
The father's name does indeed look like Willowhite. Unusual for Germany - did he perhaps move to England and "Anglicise" the name?
The different handwriting following the name could, if you squint, almost be "farmer". Would that fit?
Can't find anything on Willuwiet, but lots on Willuweit (and Willowhite):

That's great news - thanks Karen
Mother's name being Kruger makes sense & that's why the first letter matches the "K" in Koenigsberg. It's so obvious ............when someone points it out ;D
Interesting suggestion about the word "farmer" as that's the occupation of the son in Australia so looks like your interpretation is probably right.
Many thanks again
Another mystery solved - will now wander over to the Europe board and see if there's any hope of Parish registers from Koenigsberg.
