Hello
I'm new to the Chat boards and hoping that this could be what helps break a mystery on my mothers family line.
Henry Richard Head (b:1860, m:1885, d:1908) is one of my Great Grandfathers, he was born in Heddington, Wiltshire, England and Married Eliza Vidler and died in London, Middlesex, England.
Any help would be of great help
Thank You

Welcome to rootschat
You are not clear what information you are after, you appear to have his birth/marriage/death.
If you have not got the marriage which would give information to take you further back Henry's father is named as John Head (dead) - Eliza's is George Vidler occ signalman.

Going by the census posted by solidrock, I wonder if this is him
Births Sep 1859
Henry Munday Head (no mothers maiden name showing on birth reg index)
Calne 5a 70
This would fit the other grandson John
JOHN MUNDY HEAD (no mothers maiden name)
1857 June Quarter in CALNE Volume 05A Page 70
It is quite common for people to have additional christian names and 'fictitious fathers when they marry

This may not have any bearing on the matter, but; http://www.wiltshire-opc.org.uk/Items/Heddington/Heddington%20-%20Bastardy%20Examination%20Head%20v%20Clifford%201860-1861.pdf

Good find. I think this is the Ann Head age 20 in 1861, it mentions Mary as Grandmother and Ann c1831 & Louisa (wife of John c1824) as aunts.

Hopefully JLH1965 will come back to us with their thoughts on our findings :)

Will post what I found on family, if OP does not come back, with being such a large family may help others who are researching the 'Head' surname.
Henry b c1860 names his daughters Clara, Gentilla and has a son named John, so defo think family connection.
This also appears to relate to Clara in above 1861 census. Which is likely sibling/half sibling to Henry. Mother Ann is mentioned.

Ann in 1881 is likely possible working as housekeeper to a family in area, still single, not widowed.

The Henry Head that solidrock has is the correct GG Grandfather to me (Alice Gentilla Head. b: Dec 6 1889, d: June 1966, is my GreatGrandmother).
I have had the correct birth marr. death of Henry, but until i read the story about Ann did it allow me to fill in some of his past in regards to the Ann's. This has allowed me to firmly add Mary as the mother to the elder Ann (1831).
In the past 6 months i have been trying to find some information on my mothers side of the family. My mothers grandfather Healey changed his name some time during WWI and no one has any idea what it was before the change. So I have been looking for Grandma Healeys (Head) past.
So entering the information i had on RootsChat has been so much help i want to say thank you. My mother is 73 and has been working on some of the family for 20 years. She will soon be joiining the RootsChat very soon.
I spend better the 100 hours a week working and sometimes i dont get to check on here for several days at a time. Thank you all for being patient with me and ill do everything i can to help you if possible.
Thank You
Jim
